Digital disruptors

Deanna Zandt on the delight of reading news on a tablet

In the week since the launch of our digital disruptors video series, we’ve already had Shafqat Islam, chief executive NewsCred, discuss how tablets are changing the publishing industry and BuzzFeed’s Jonah Peretti explain how social media is upending the way we share news. Now, we’re announcing our next digital disruptor: Deanna Zandt, a digital media consultant and author of “Share This! How You Will Change the World with Social Networking”. Zandt has offered her digital insights to leading media and advocacy organizations, including the Daily Beast/Newsweek, the Ford Foundation and NPR’s “All Things Considered”. When not busy consulting, Zandt writes about women and technology at Forbes.com

We sat down with Zandt to learn how publishing could make better use of all of the available digital tools. And to Zandt, this doesn’t just mean replicating the print product on a tablet. Instead, she pleads for publishers to surprise her with their apps, to delight her, to do something that’s going to make her fall madly in love with the tablet experience.
