Sales Executive, Integrated Advertising Solutions

Summary 

The Economist has enjoyed industry leading growth in readership over the last five years across multiple platforms.  Editorially, we continue to be a must read for senior business people, opinion leaders, financiers and politicians alike.  To capitalize on our growing readership and future investments in the brand in the US, The Economist is growing our advertising team.  The Economist is looking to recruit a talented Advertising Sales Executive to grow revenues across our print, online and digital editions properties. 

Accountabilities 

• Effectively manage all aspects of your given business (territory) – understanding your clients business, building & managing relationships, managing expenses & travel budgets, and understanding the competitive set.
• Responsible for meeting and exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual advertising revenue
• Responsible for being proactive in managing assigned categories of advertisers, analyzing usage trends within categories, and working closely with counterparts in other sales offices in developing new business.
• Grow North American market share of print pages, online and digital editions dollars against competitive set.
• Maximize revenues from existing advertisers while proactively seeking out and converting new business on a consistent basis.
• Must build and maintain relationships with all levels of personal on assigned advertising agencies and clients (this includes, but not limited to assistant media planners all the way up to owner/partners). 
• Develop and foster strong relationships with clients and enhance focus on advertising agencies to maintain The Economist’s position as a high quality and valued brand.
• Effective teamwork with local and global sales and marketing teams.
• Reporting and forecasting sales revenue on regular basis.
• Develop a client strategy for each individual account, working with the Sales Manager. This is particularly    important for the larger accounts, which will require special attention.

Performance Measures

• Revenues against monthly and annual targets.
• Market share in ad pages and revenues
• Sales Call Volume (8 to 10 face to face meetings per week is the expectation).
• Ability to confidently and persuasively convey the merits of The Economist  and Digital Editions to clients and  prospects in all written and verbal communications while maintaining the high quality and professional image of The Economist.
• Timely adherence to business directives required by  management.
• Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date sales  database.  

Skills and capabilities profile 

Education and Training	BS / BA   degree preferred or equivalent work experience
Previous work Experience	2-4 years of relevant work experience Print, Online and digital editions advertising sales experience A proven track record of revenue and market-share growth
Knowledge	Extensive knowledge of East Coast advertisers across categories such as Auto, Corporate, Travel Experience in structuring integrated print and online programs
IT	Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, contact management Software
Key skills	Results driven Motivated and enthusiastic with a commitment to succeed Be able to position and sell an established highly valued brand Must be well organized and able to balance executing strategy with the need to   deliver short term results Must be creative and able to generate advertising solutions
