The Economist Group has today (Friday June 21st) announced that Chris Stibbs will become its new chief executive. Stibbs is currently the Group’s finance director and the managing director of the Economist Intelligence Unit. He will take up the position on July 18th, when Andrew Rashbass, the current chief executive, steps down.

Stibbs joined The Economist Group from Incisive Media in 2005, where he was the corporate development director. He has also been a non-executive director of Motivcom, finance director of the TBP Group and managing director of the FT Law and Tax Division.
